5 Stars WONT PLAY/WORK ON XBOX 360 !!!
I BOUGHT THIS GAME FOR 15.00 AND FOUND OUT ITS NOT BACKWARDS COMPATABLE FOR XBOX 360 THEIR FOR I’M STUCK WITH IT FOR NOW THEY REALLY NEED TO LET US KNOW THESE THINGS THANKS MOCROSOFT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 Stars Dead to Rights II
Game is fun. More Difficult than the first but still fun. Would use seller again.

1 Star What the hell were they thinking??
What the hell were they thinking?? Ok i get it its a second game but its a prequel. Usually they are better in this case its not. Ok for one the controls can be a little jerky at times but that can be gotten used to. But i mean come on the game play itself is attrocious (dont know or care if I spelled that right. Thats how bad this game is.) I loved the first game so when I heard they came out with a second one I jumped at the chance at getting it… I needed to get my head examined. The story develops poorly and there isnt a good plot like the first one and it jumps seems to go so darn slow. The auto switching of the weapons SUXX!! imagine popping off a few shots at someone then grabbing another weapon and shooting that and realizing that it feels like a gnat is trying to sting them. The game was poor in concept and if you must get this just rent it. Actually dont even rent it, its not even worth that much money.

2 Stars It’s Ok fun wih Ok graphics
The game is not as many other titles out there. In my opinion the game was released and not finished 1st. Not much difference from part 1 and this is unacceptable due part one was a little better thn this one. Overall the current price is really worth buyin for. But $50,$20 dollars is a waste of $$ for this one.

4 Stars Simple and Fun
This game is a great diversion and a hell of alot of fun for casual gamers. If you want more than a quick dose of action stick to RPG’s.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Good puzzle game
This game picks up where the first Syberia game left off. The plot continues as you follow Kate. More puzzles and an excellent plot. Stunning graphics and gameplay.

5 Stars I’m hooked!
I never understood how grown men/women could just sit in front of the tv playing on a game system for hours on end, until I was introduced to the Syberia series. I was so skeptical to play, figured with the new technology I would be doomed from the start. Surprisingly, it really wasn’t that difficult to pick up on, especially when you are so enamored by the story line.

I highly recommend this game! If this is the new look of gaming, I hope I’m able to find others with the same quality & style. (This game would make such an incredible action/adventure movie as well.)

SIDE NOTE:I’m not sure that you would get the same effect if you played part 2 first. After playing part 1, I couldn’t wait to get part 2 in the mail. If I did it all over, I would buy both at once.

4 Stars Syberia 2 Review
This type of gaming experience can be quite addictive, and the unique plot of the first game brought me back for another go, but in the end I felt somewhat bad for the Kate Walker, the main character. The first game had a personal subplot going on for her, which was kind of glossed over in this installment. The gameplay was okay, but for the most part the gorgeous environment is non-interactive, which can be a little disappointing at times. The story arch ended well for the Voralburgs, but after getting a little attached to Kate, it would be nice to have a little more resolution for her.

4 Stars WORTH THE WAIT
This game did not disappoint. The graphics were amazing, and the storyline picked up where the first had left off so you got to follow along as Hans continues on to Syberia. This game was more enjoyable the first. The only downside – when the game is over, it happens very abruptly. One minute you’re playing, the next reading credits. This was highly disappointing, but until that point everything was just as I had hoped. While the ending leaves you wanting more, the game is worth every penny. I could not stop, every change I had, I was continuing on with an imaginative journey that kept me wanting to push farther and farther.

4 Stars An enjoyable sequel
I really loved the first Syberia. It was amazingly beautiful and stylized- so different than anything else I’d seen. I really got into the storyline and the characters to the point that at its completion, I exclaimed to no one in particular- “I’ve found Hans Vorelberg!” with satisfaction. Well- Syberia 2 is more of the same. Still beautiful to look at. Still great character development and storyline. Still slightly more difficult than they have to be, stylish puzzles to solve. I liked the later sections of the game much more than the early ones. I’m not exactly sure why this series of games was not more popular? I highly recommend both the original Syberia and this, its sequel.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Fun for the Adults Too!
I rented this game over and over one summer, and would play for hours! It’s just the kind of mindless fun I love in a video game (reminiscent of Super Mario Brothers). Now that I have my own XBox, this was the first game I wanted to buy!

4 Stars Fun. But Boring
I thought the game was fun but it wasn’t that exciting. The chalenges were so easy like you beat a challenge just by going into the closet and you beat one just by jumping 6-10 times!!! So to any 1 about to by this be warned as loads of it is kinda boring except when you battle the giant robots

5 Stars Best of the best of Spongebob
Battle for Bikini bottom might be old,but I love it.My favorite areas are the dreams in the middle of the game and you can go from Spongebob’s dream to either Patrick’s,Sandy’s,Mr.Krabs,or Squidward.2 years ago I was new to the game.I did Squidward’s dream and it took me a couple hours to beat.Same thing happened with Sandy’s dream,Mr.Krabs,I can’t beat,I don’t own this game but soon I will.I totally recommend this game.

5 Stars okay
very good. The ONLY xbox game i like.

Amy, age 10

4 Stars F-U-N and challenging
Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom is a fun/hard game to play. I suggest that this should be a rating of E 10+ because the levels get harder, and harder as you go. If your child is around 7 or under, he/she will probably have a hard time. This game takes awhile, and the levels are long with fun/difficult challenges.

Overall, it’s fun, the character’s voices are the same (Yeah, I agree, Mr.Krab’s voice didn’t sound like himself like in the real seris) and great graphics.

5 Stars Best collection you can buy for new xboxers
Most of the rest of us are all Halo’d out, but if you are new to xbox or the 360, this is the best set you can buy. The games will play at 720p/1080i in widescreen (if you have an HDTV) on the 360 and you will have months if not years (not days) of multiplayer longevity to these titles.

Note the multiplayer maps disc sold separately for Halo2 (if you originally bought Halo2 long ago) is a rip-off.

1 Star Why? Why? Why?
This is Microsoft just trying to get more money for an ageing game. I love this game, this is a fun game with a great story, and you have to read the books to understand the full story. It’s the only game that does the whole thing well. People say the first game was nothing but a repeat of levels. True; however, it made the game have a more real feel to it. Why would you build diffrent rooms everywhere on your space ship? Or on a ring world for that matter? It was to the point, Hey this is a working ship, and this is a working Ring thing. What made the game was the Enemy you fought, and the Story behind it. Halo Two was fun, but the end killed the greatness it could have been. Halo three better pick up where Halo 2 left off. As much as I love this game this three pack will not become apart of my Halo Collection. I already own both games for X-Box, and 3 copies of the First Halo on computer. I got the four books, and the Comic, and both CD’s. I also can not wait for Halo 3, and the Halo Moive! Ok, one thing about this Three pack. 79 dollars!!!!! Come on, if I bought all three in their orginal case, it would only come up too 56:97 + Tax. So why, on earth would you buy this? By the orginal games, it will be all three disk, but with the WHOLE BOX ARTWORK! Heck even if I bought all three and a computer copy of the game it would be 3 dollars cheaper. This would not be a good buy, unless they lowered the price.

1 Star Just another Halo Players Reveiw
I don’t have my own account on Amazon.com, so I can’t use a review where I type in my name and password. But you are probably wondering why I am writing this now. Well, I’m at my public library, and I’m using their computer, so I have to make this review quick. I have an XBOX only because my cousin gave it to me. He is rich. He invented the Toaster Strudel. This is no joke. His name is Raphael. Anyway, Halo is a fun game. It is the best and only game I’ve ever played. I love it more than I would love to own a pair of shoes and have running water at my house. Uh oh, the main lady at the library is telling me my time’s up. So in conclusion, buy this game. It rocks out loud!! Ta ta for now!!

2 Stars Disappointed
I was disappointed in this game. There were some improvements over the first game but not many and the bugs in this one really cancel the improvements out. I really enjoyed playing the first game. With this one I found Harry harder to control and this made some of the challenges very frustrating because it was difficult to get Harry to move the way I wanted him to and for my spells to go the direction I wanted them to (Even with targeting). The graphics disappear in many places. This game really feels like the makers rushed to get it out and did not do a lot of quality control before releasing it.

4 Stars Cool Beans!
This game is just awsome! The magic is great and the environments is just like the game. It has great handling and the button controlling is out of this world fab. I reccomend this game for Wicca game lovers.

3 Stars The sound on game.
The soundtrack on this game is not playing in Dolby Digital…just Dolby Surround/ProLogic. Perhaps this was the way it was meant to play. A number of improvements have been made to this game as far as movements and such compared to the previously released Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I have only viewed the game while someone else was playing (Christmas gift)and that was when I noticed the display saying it was reproducing sound only in ProLogic.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars A decent hack and slash, not much replay value in the end
I’ll be honest; I wasn’t so enthralled with Hunter: The Reckoning that I immediately had to rush out and buy “Redeemer”. However, I do like seeing if things improve in a series and Hunter: The Reckoning was a good enough game to at least pique my interest into wanting to see what they did this time. If you’re a die hard follower of this series then I think you’ll find this an enjoyable game, but if you only casually enter this particular universe you’ll be slightly disappointed.

You’d think that the follow-up would be bigger, badder, and more intense. Unfortunately we don’t exactly get that. You do get some cool new things that definitely made playing this game a little better. The most obvious is a new player character in addition to the four Hunters from the first game, some of you might remember saving the scared little girl in the original game. Naturally she’s all dolled up in a super short skirt, corset styled top and thigh highs. This is what anyone would expect a girl to be wearing to go hunt demons and werewolves. I was a little disappointed with her character because she was kind of slow in comparison to the other characters my friends were playing. Not to mention her ranged weapon, albeit really strong, takes a long time to fire and reload. So don’t expect her to achieve nearly as many kills or levels if you’re playing with friends that have much faster characters. Sure, she’s more powerful, but in this game it seems speed is one of the most useful aspects for a character. Since I’m on the topic of characters, one other cool concept added to the game is that you can unlock other playable characters. Namely these are the monsters you face in the game. However, strangely, if you choose to play as these characters you can’t complete certain missions. That’s kind of annoying and leaves you wondering why make them available as player characters at all if you can’t complete the game with them? It’s really a cool idea, but I don’t think it was executed nearly as well as it could have been.

One thing that caught my attention in the first game was the story and length of game play. Granted the story was a bit cheesy at times, but that’s fine, I don’t mind cheesy story lines so long as the game play is fun with my friends and me. I expected similar things from “Redeemer”, but the game was way shorter than the first. It seriously felt like it took us half the time to beat this game than the first one. Secondly the storyline this time around felt a lot more stupid. Basically you meet up with this other hunter named Lucien to protect his factory in Ashcroft from the werewolves that are attacking him. There’s some crazy conspiracy and not everything is as it seems. The plot twist was overly predictable and it wasn’t even that interesting. You run into a familiar face from the original game and rather than generate intrigue he generates disappointment as it feels like a waste of time to include him. Ah well, I wouldn’t say I’m completely done with this series forever if they ever put out another game. However, my expectations will certainly be lower and I found myself glad that this game was a lot shorter, because it just wasn’t nearly as fun.

A major improvement on this title is the graphics though. Things are a lot more crisp and clearer. Granted it’s nothing to really get excited about, but it’s an improvement from the first game. The combat engine is essentially the same, except some of the increased abilities. Another gripe with the game is you still have no control over leveling up your characters. Simply use a certain kind of weapon category or ability a bunch and you automatically level up, it’s not based on any kind of experience points. Overall it was a decent game to play with my friends. Unfortunately we had better things to play and ended up playing this simply because we hadn’t. There are definitely better things out there and if you’re looking for a game with a lot more control in this regard pick up “X-Men: Legends.”

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

5 Stars The best Hunter Game
I just recently got the original xbox after I traded in my PS2. I have played all the Hunter games and this one is the best by far. The first Hunter the Reckoning was way too hard and the Wayward one for PS2 wasn’t too bad for one player but it got really hard with the 2 player. With Redeemer the thing I liked about it was the fact that you could put it on easy, medium or hard instead of just one setting. You can also level your characters up as well. You can even unlock new characters like a zombie and foot soldiers plus some of the bosses you fight in the game. The graphics are way better as well. If you want to play a hunter game get this one it is worth it and you can find used at a cheap price as well.

1 Star I would love to play this, but…
I would love to play this game as I have really enjoyed all the other Hunter games that are out. BUT, I have an older X-box so I can’t play it! The game won’t even start up! I tried several copies but to no avail… it just won’t work. So take heed to this warning: If you purchased your X-box shortly after they came out, don’t bother getting this game. Or at least rent it first to see if it will even play.

4 Stars A straight up shoot-em-up for four
My wife and I beat the Hunter: The Reckoning -Wayward on the PS2 a year ago, so we decided the next logical step was to buy Hunter: The Reckoning – Redeemer (can that title get any longer?) for the Xbox.

The Hunter series is noteworthy because it’s based on a World of Darkness pen-and-paper role-playing game. The World of Darkness was dominated by the first game in the line, vampires. Then werewolves. Then wraiths. Then changelings. Finally, someone got fed up with playing monsters and made a game dedicated to blowing them all up. Thus we have Hunter: The Reckoning, where soccer moms and school teachers suddenly discover they have super powers and can pierce the Veil, the illusion that cloaks the monsters who live among us. Good stuff.

Now, you might expect that our heroes would all be rather mundane looking, boring people. But in a sacrifice to the laws of videogames (and thus, the laws of What Teenage Boys Like), all those Hunters were sexed up quite a bit. We have the big scary biker guy (Spencer “Deuce” Wyatt), the black ex-cop (Samantha Alexander), the wise priest guy with a wicked sword (Father Esteban Cortez) and the rich kid raver chick (Kassandra Cheyung). Wayward had something of a 70s funkadelic feel to it.

Redeemer adds a new character, and she screams, “Somebody knows their demographic!” Dressed in a tight leather bustier, pigtails, and wielding a huge sword, Kaylie Winter achieves two amazing feats: she can actually swing a sword bigger than her entire body and she never falls out of her outfit. Not for lack of trying, mind you. Also, perhaps in a nod to being a bit more politically correct, Samantha no longer has an afro.

Although the World of Darkness role-playing game supposedly doesn’t have classes, it has something similar: creeds. These creeds determine the characters starting abilities and access to Edges, the powers that Hunters wield against the forces of darkness. These range from confusing enemies to healing allies to blowing bad guys up real good. It didn’t take long to start thinking of Father Esteban as a cleric (oh the irony!), since he gets the healing Edge.

The developers tweaked the game significantly since Wayward. Specifically, we stopped playing Wayward because we got stuck at one of the bosses-an evil witch. With her gun-toting harpies, she mowed us down over and over. What we didn’t realize was that there are actually a limited number of lives. You just have a lot of them, so it takes a lot of deaths before you run out-long enough that we figured we had unlimited restarts. When we finally reached the boss fight, we had long since saved several games with that limited number of lives. It was never spelled out explicitly in the game documentation and, for reasons I will never understand, it’s not spelled out in Redeemer either.

But it doesn’t matter, because on Medium difficulty we never ran out of lives.

The game play is basically the same. You shoot stuff, you hack stuff, and you take its stuff. Wayward had the hysterical side effect of putting items in garbage cans, thus turning Hunters into the worlds most powerful dumpster divers. No trash receptacle is safe! Conversely, Redeemer restricts items to corpses and even gives certain adversaries items that make sense.

The plot is difficult to follow, mostly because it draws on preconceived notions from the World of Darkness that most gamers are probably not familiar with. Werewolves, in this universe, are good guys fighting the forces of corrupt civilization. In Redeemer, werewolves that appear to be enemies are actually allies, opposed by Gentex, an evil super corporation. This might sound familiar, because it’s obviously Pentex, the evil super corporation from Werewolf: The Apocalypse (now Werewolf: The Forsaken). I’m not sure why the name was changed.

Anyway, it just so happens that a Hunter runs the corporation. So the corporation can’t be that bad, right? Without giving too much away, let’s just say that another role-playing game, one of the last to be released before the current World of Darkness “reboot” has a lot to do with this game. That will only serve to confuse people, I’m sure.

By far the best part of Redeemer is that it’s one of the rare four player games for the Xbox. The controls are customized for blasting away at opponents, including a very cool strafing maneuver. It’s all about killing zombies, vampires, and other weird things.

And that’s not a bad thing. Redeemer makes no pretense about what it is: a straight up shoot-em-up for four. If you can stand the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink premise and don’t mind your Hunters showing a little leg, Redeemer is for you.

4 Stars The best in the series. . .
Since the release of “Hunter: The Reckoning,” the games in the series have become steadily more accessible in terms of play balance. “Wayward,” released for the Playstation 2 just months before “Redeemer,” offered a considerable improvement to the hack-slash-shoot formula of its predecessor – but also failed to offer anything that felt genuinely new to veterans of the series. It felt like a glorified expansion pack to the previous game, simply put. “Redeemer,” on the other hand, comes off as a true sequel, and further refines the series’ signature gameplay. Gone is the oppressive difficulty of the original entry, and gone is much of the sameness of “Wayward.”

That’s not to say that “Redeemer” doesn’t become repetitive. It does. When a game relies so heavily on hacking, slashing, shooting, and little else, this can tend to occur. Even so, the formula maintains its shallow but addictive quality – particularly if you have a friend to run through the game alongside you (or a few, for the matter of that). There are many noticeable improvements to the core game that include ranged attack power ups (such as incendiary or poisonous bullets), level-ups that actually make an impact on your chosen character (your weapons become noticeably more potent, and your basic ranged weapon can hold more ammunition), NPCs that add a little something extra to the game’s environments, and more health and “edge” enhancers that pop up in place of slain enemies. “Hunter: The Reckoning” was murderously difficult, and both “Wayward” and “Redeemer” have addressed this issue respectably.

Graphically, “Redeemer” takes the series much further. The environments are slick-looking and full of eye candy (like reflective surfaces), and the characters onscreen animate believably. Even when there are many enemies onscreen at a given time, there is very little slowdown. The sound effects get the job done without making a particular impression, and, unfortunately, the music is still sporadic, but the in-engine cutscenes are very well done and excellently voiced. Overall, “Redeemer” offers a winning presentation that trumps each of its forebears.

The story that runs behind the scenes here isn’t anything too impressive, but the involvement of monsters that aren’t entirely evil does add a wrinkle to the proceedings. The new character class (the Redeemer) plays a large role in the scheme of things, and is a fine addition to the other four. She is, perhaps, one of the most well-rounded characters in the game.

All in all, if you’re a fan of the series, then there’s no reason why you should be without “Redeemer.” It takes everything that makes the series so strangely compelling and polishes it to a radiant shine. It lacks the insane difficulty of the original and the overwhelming sameness of “Wayward” and offers up a game that is quite enjoyable.

Final Score: B

4 Stars Fun & creepy game!
Although some parts of the game were difficult, it was quite fun & I enjoyed the challenge. Great horror, action game!

4 Stars Whod’ve thunk it?
This game is surprisingly interesting. The fact that you can carry over the first games’ data over to it plus you can make your character good or evil makes it a game to play time and again. The multiple endings are also a noteworthy notion.

4 Stars Underrated Horror Shooter With Actual Scares!!!
I love the first game, but the 2nd is even better; You know the general plot: Escape the monsters while trying to figure out your ‘past’, which is shaped by the choices you make in the game. The enviornments are creepy and disturbing(not to mention varied!!), and the creatures that call them home are even more so; You battle man and monsters here, some of the more memorable ones back from the first game, designed by Effects-God Stan Winston; There are plenty of nice additions…The dogs who attack you w/knives and have human faces is a personal fave; Plus, this game is challenging; It’s takes a little bit to adjust to the feel of the controls, but once you’re used to them, this game is good scary fun; You can toggle between 1st and 3rd person, too…Nice hallucination sequences, too(in the style of the ‘Fatal Frame’ games….).

At $15.00, horror/shooter/action fans just can’t go wrong here.

3 Stars Glitches and annoying changes…
I really loved and completed the first Suffering game. I believe I am almost all the way through this one, but I am considering not playing it anymore. First of all, the game is virtually unplayable sometimes if you are using 480p HD. During the scene where Torque is riding in the back of the truck shooting, it literally dropped down to 1 frame every 5 seconds toward the end. Also, when using HD, you can’t go into the archives and open the journals. It instantly locks up. I found all of these problems pretty quickly. If Midway doesn’t want to hire game testers, I’ll do it for free to keep them from ruining what would have been a great game.

After turning HD off (no biggie…graphics aren’t everything) most of the bugs went away but it has still locked up a number of times. I could swear I’m playing an unpatched PC game. That out of the way just leaves me with my complaints about the game itself. Torque has apparently promised his parole officer that he won’t carry prescription drugs on him anymore because now he will only consume them on the spot. What is annoying about this is that if you have just one tiny bit of health missing and you open a locker with pills inside, he eats the whole bottle and it was pretty much wasted! When that isn’t happening, I’m usually low on health and have to backtrack looking for more that I passed over earlier. I guess wasting health unintentionally and backtracking was supposed to make the game scary, but I just find it annoying. Also, Torque can now only carry two weapons. Aren’t characters supposed to gain NEW abilities in sequels instead of lose them? Can he seriously not stick a revolver in his pocket and a shotgun on his back? Just plain dumb.

Due to the way this one is set up, I find myself saving in every room and reloading to try again if I get hit. The first game, I just played through it without saving except for the checkpoints. It was a much more immersive experience. On the plus side, the levels are well designed as are the enemies, I just find the problems make it difficult to enjoy.

5 Stars James
I played the first one a while back on hard mode in the Xbox so i knew what i was getting myself into. This one is totally different. Just like they said the difficulty is alot harder on hard mode. when you see a gun (machine gun or tommy gun) on easy mode instead of a gun there will be a pole on hard mode. What makes it even more difficult is that when you fight bosses you must do it from far away. Without knowing they will surround you and there will be 3 on easy mode/8 on hard mode. Sometimes its kinda impossible but thats the fun of it. This game is worth your money PERIOD! the graphics are surreal, the sound makes for a very scary game, the gameplay is kinda difficult since one joystick moves him and the other uses to look around. Some will say that thats why the camera sucks. Just get used to it and you wont even worry about the camera as long as you master it! Choose your guns wisely cause you might pick one up and only find ammo for that gun once in a lifetime.

OVERALL id give this game a 5 because its not something that you beat and then trade it. This will be a game where you still have it and are stuck on a part (depending on difficulty)!

Later!

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Evolution 2 rocks
this game rules with all the different places to drive and all the different trucks to drive. This game also has great graphics.

4 Stars One of the reasons I bought an Xbox
I Loved 4×4 Evo, so naturally i wanted to try version 2. Finally had an opportunity to purchase an xbox and well this game is darn cheap at costco so what the heck.
The game hasn’t changed too much from the first version. Now teams are available which is a nice toucha nd the cars and track list is increased.
The same gripe I had about the first game still applies though. When you purchase an upgrade the computer automatically gets it. If you are winning races and thus earning money, shouldn’t the computer have to do the same? Essentially, the rule of thumb is only mod your truck to things you need to be a bit more competative, but not to make a monster truck. Once you have everything you’d want in a truck, the computer is sure to beat you.
Where this game really shines is in two player mode. Computer can’t cheat this way, and its just you and a buddy beating up a couple of trucks. Lets face it, its pretty fun to beat up your own SUV and not have to worry about repair bills.
The fully open courses also make the game very fun. In free drive mode, you can practice the courses, and plan for the short cuts which are mandatory if you want to win some races.
Definitely worth the price I bought it for…

5 Stars cars or trucks?
4x4eveo2 is ok if you like trucks and racing. You can coustomize your car. The tracks are fun with shortcuts everywhere.

5 Stars 4X4 EVO 2
This game is bye far 1 of the best driving games out there with over 30 diferandt trakes and 40 differant trucks witch u can pute new parts on it and can see the differance. there are also the race tucks u an buy. overal this game is an eazy to understad and use altho i do wish they could have ford in there too.

2 Stars AI opponents are invinsible – even after 100K of mods!
O.K. Godgames and Rockstar games did a few things right in this game – but ultimately they failed to produce a playable game. The load times are very lengthy. The menu is needlessly cluttered. In career mode there are 5 AI oppoenent vehicles. It is COMPLETELY impossible to out-accelerate the top car/truck regardless of mods – so the only way to get 1st-place is a lot of luck followed by a straightaway on the last lap – forget skills. For some reason it is TOTALLY impossible to nudge an AI oppoenent out of your way – forget everything you know about physics – going 110 mph and slam into an AI car – you lose he’s fine – AI car going 40 and hits you – you are in the ditch my friend. Oh and lets talk about the shoulder of these race tracks! You can and will get STUCK on every little thing. Most games don’t make you reverse from behind obstacles – they just penalize your speed – not this game. Trust me – this game deserve awards for its ability to cause needless aggravasion – shame on the Quality Assurance at Godgames and Rockstar games – this would have NEVER gotten by me!

1 Star Worst game ever!
First of all, if you’re buying this game because you think there’s nudity in it, DON’T! Because there is NO NUDITY! As for the game mechanics, they are absolutely atrocious. The storyline is sleep-inducing. The controls are almost impossible to get used to. The characters are as uninteresting as they could possibly be. PLEASE don’t waste your money on this game!

5 Stars Another Bioware Classic.
Mass Effect is the latest in a long line of classic Role Playing Games from Bioware. Their previous games include Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Knights of the Old Republic. Mass Effect is the first game in a planned trilogy of games, and Bioware has stated the intention of having your character carry over from one game to the next.

Pros:

- Great atmosphere: The music and visuals evoke memories of classic sci-fi films like Aliens and Blade Runner.

- Intriguing Story: The storyline and inter-character relationships were engaging, and the game presents some interesting moral decisions.

- Replayability: The variety of classes and choices offered can provide new experiences over multiple replays.

- Achievements: The unlockable Xbox Live achievements do more than just increase your gamerscore; they also unlock abilities in the game.

Cons:

- If you do not have a High Definition TV, the text can appear blurry and hard to read. I started playing Mass Effect on a 36′ standard definition Sony Wega TV, and the text was small and blurry enough to cause eye strain (and I have 20/20 vision). While most of the game is voice acted, there are still large amounts of text to read. I was able to finish my first play-through in spite of the blurry text, but I credit Mass Effect with being my main motivation for upgrading to a HDTV. After upgrading to a HDTV, the game is even more beautiful, and the text is crystal clear.

3 Stars Massive Letdown
I had very high hopes for this game. I was a big fan of both Knights of the Old Republic games, and I think that Microsoft and Bioware really built this game up. Unfortunately, it really failed to live up to expectations. To be honest, the more I played it, the more frustrated and disappointed I became. Ultimately, I wasn’t able to force myself to finish it.

I could write several pages critiquing the game. But I’m feeling a little too lazy for that right now. My biggest advice would be, if you buy this game, stick to the main plot. The side-quests are tedious and poorly-implemented, often relying simply on text pop-ups and involving very little (if any) meaningful “exploration” of the galaxy.

The game’s high points would probably be the graphics (although it’s plagued by inexcusable popping-in of textures, embarrassingly small numbers of character model variations, and a conspicuous absence of characters with any meaningful amount of hair), music, and the thoroughness of the sci-fi universe that they have envisioned.

These strengths are heavily outweighed, however, by an innovative but ultimately ill-conceived dialog system, shallow inventory system, laughable “decryption” mini-game, lackluster voice acting, painful vehicle control, cookie-cutter dungeons, a combat system that is a step-back from KOTOR, and, apparently, a total lack of vegetation anywhere in the galaxy.

In a holiday season with countless outstanding titles, there are MUCH better ways to spend your precious spare hours of free time…

5 Stars One of the best games I’ve ever played
When I first heard of this game, I had mixed feelings about it. KOTOR was a great game, but wasn’t exactly one in my favorites list. Same with Jade Empire, so I had kind of medium expectations of the game. When it was released I decided to give it a chance, and bought the Limited Edition of the game.

At the very start, I was a little bored but as soon as I started playing on Eden Prime I was hooked. From that point through the rest of the game I was addicted to this game. I reached level 60 on my second play through and I can’t wait for “Bring Down The Sky” to be released. The story itself is an amazing achievement.

I really enjoyed how the story plays out by your choice of multiple paths while in conversation, as well as being rewarded with EXP for choosing your paths. Another thing I enjoyed about the game is the gameplay itself.

Unlike KOTOR, its Action based, not turn based which really got my attention and helped made this game so fun, as well as the multiple side quests that can be done.

The only things about this game I did not like was not being able to skip cut scenes my second time through and the many glitches I encountered but other than those two I give this game a perfect 10.

5 Stars One of the most incredible, immersive videogames ever
Mass Effect is an incredible leap forward in videogame interactivity and storytelling. The combination of storytelling, impressive visuals, film techniques, and intuitive interaction lifts Mass Effect to a whole new level.

Which is actually a funny thing to say considering that each element on its own is really not so great an advance, more of a slight evolutionary step that still has its own flaws. The story feels so much like Knights of the Old Republic that I wondered at times if I was really playing a new game. I could name the SF movie from the past 30 years (mostly Star Wars) that inspired nearly every line of dialog. The gameplay mechanics are almost identical to both KOTOR and Jade Empire, with plenty of meaningless side quests to take up my time and give me minimal additional XP. The visuals, while beautiful and obviously painstakingly created, are jittery and susceptible to pop-in from the very beginning of the game.

However, the evolutionary step forward in each individual element leads to a truly remarkable creation. Sure, the dialog’s derivative of far more popular SF, but I really cared about the people who were speaking it in this game. Sure the game plays out very much like KOTOR and Jade Empire, but those were outstanding games too. By the time I finished this game, I was thrilled with the heroic stand I was able to take, and I was truly saddened by the characters who died along the way toward this conclusion. Extremely few games have made me care this much.

The bonus content on the limited edition set is good. You get a couple small books (which I actually haven’t even read yet), a making-of DVD with some fun interviews, and a ton of gamer pics and dashboard themes. It’s worth it if you’re a fan of this genre / company / game, but probably not for the casual player who isn’t too invested.

Overall, this game is a truly remarkable experience, and they can’t put out Mass Effect 2 soon enough.
