User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars D rated game.
This is barely passable to be rated as a game.Theres good reasons why games and comic books should not mix and this is one of them.

In the game for some characters the player can’t do some of the moves as good as the CPU, and the moves do not respond to the D-pad on time.

And there are several glitches in the game as well for instance; As I was in practice mode in some arenas the player or opponent can fall threw walls or in some areas where there are big holes in the floor where you can actually walk on them and not fall, or get trapped in a wall. And as if that was not bad enough they did a pore job on the blocking move, it too dose not respond on time. They have where you can reconfigure your controls on the game (Yeah, a lot of good that dose.) But you still don’t have the blocking move to where you don’t have to strain the hell out of your fingers just to do one stupid move.

And as for the affects, its a joke and I’ll give you an example; In the game Blood Roar Extreme, the lighting in the game looks far more real as to X-men Storm’s lighting balls, they look more like balls of yarn. And there fighting stances are just flat out bad. Some players can float just over there heads witch doesn’t make sense because not only that, you can’t really hit them anymore and it gives your enemy an open shot at you.

To sum it all up, X-men next dimension was just another sloped together, slapped a label on, copied, and ready to make a buck off of it. They don’t care about making a good quality product. Just as long as they get your money. And did I mention that you can’t save your progress in the game?

4 Stars X-Men….FIGHT!
This is a good game if you’re into the X-men and not a big fight-game fan like myself. It’s got good graphics, a lot of different characters -I liked playing with Havoc and Mystique- and some cool locations and levels. You can play Story Mode, 1 on 1 and one more if I remember. The critics are being too hard on this one, it’s not D.O.A., but it’s good to add to your X-Men library FOR CHEAP!!

4 Stars X-men: Next Dimesion takes me to another dimension:
I understand a lot of people didn’t like this game, but I did. When it first came out I bought it and loved it. Me and my friends played it all the time. We couldn’t get enough of it. Now three years later after trading in my GC version I’ve bought it again for the Xbox. I must admit it still looks pretty good and the controls are far better than the GC version. I also like the addition of Pyro. Now I must state the obvious set backs of this game; for one the fighting is fun but not nearly as in depth as games like DOA or Soul Calibur. Two the graphics are a bit dated. Three the game isn’t much fun by yourself after extended play. And finally there are some small glitchs. In conclusion this is a decent fighter and awsome X-men game. Ah this game brings back so many memories…

1 Star Weak-Men
X-men The Next Dimension for the Xbox is a fighting game where you get to fight with your favorite X-man character. The major ones included are: Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Night Crawler, Storm and many more which can be unlocked when you beat the games. Your characters can do basic punch, kick, combo moves and

use their special powers. You can play by yourself or with a friend in versus mode. I hated this game because the controls were sluggish, the animation looked choppy and weird. The sound is the worst ever in a fighting game! The hits sound like Tiny slap sounds. All of the combo attacks suck, they feel very generic. I’m an X-men fan, but this game is horrible. Save your money and buy Dead or Alive (the bomb).

Pros:

+X-men characters

+good graphics

+versus a friend

Cons:

-sluggish controls

-terrible sound effects

-generic music

-choppy animations

-fighting techniques suck

-retarded A.I.

3 Stars Errr.. no offense but…
quote “THINK A LITTLE IF YOU CAN????”. If you think about it, it should be “THINK A LITTLE IF YOU CAN!!!”. Your making a statement not a question. at least I assume the all caps and triple qualifiers is what that was about.

Good game to rent, maybe to buy if your a fan boy.

Kill.Switch takes you to a world on the brink of global conflict — and your mission is to start the war!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars THIS GAME ROCKS!!
It is very fun to play and the action is crazy. When I first got my hands this game, I could not stop playing it. Great for you xbox collection!

4 Stars Shoulders for Giants
This underrated game has been cited as an inspiration for hit games like “Gears of War” and “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”. I played this game when it was released back in 2003. I remember being impressed with the cover-oriented combat system. At the time I thought it was the best implementation of using cover in gun fights. I felt that maybe “Winback” and the “Metal Gear” games were its spiritual predecessors, but looking back I think this game really took it to another level and the “hiding behind cover” craze that has swept “shooter” games since the popularity of Gears really has its roots in kill.switch. This game is inexpensive now and I would encourage any Gears fan to give it a look. It is compatible with the 360.

4 Stars Pretty good game, bit dated now
I played this game when it first came out, and recently bought it for < 10 bucks at a second-hand game shop. The game play over all is very good, although some of the shared buttons are not a good idea. The graphics now look pretty bland, but since it came out in 2003 that is only to be expected. I keep waiting for Kill.Switch II to come out, but it never has. Shame really. This game has some very good ideas in it, and the physics of recoil and the general environment were very clever.

1 Star To play or not to play?(not to play)
One word, SUCKS but I will take the time to explain (in what little detail there is)how stupid this game really is.OK first of all bad controls ,your pressing 1 button to use wall cover and another to fire while hittng up,all at the same time!!!Next low variety of weapons 3 or 4 at the most (splinter cell is an exception!)Last but not least ,graphics easily the high point of this idiotic peice of trash, and they still look terrible!!!

Look take it from me stay away from this…….thing as much as possible, even if their giving it away for free!!!trust me.

5 Stars FLIP THE F***ING KILL SWITCH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kill.Switch….This game is simply amazing. The graphics aren’t too shabby, especially for 2003. It’s the attention to detail in the graphics that is astonishing. For example: I shot from my cover and killed a man that was about 10 feet away. When he fell his gun fell out of his hand and bounced a bit and it leaned against the wall after it bounced and wiggle….THAT’S WHAT IT WOULD DO IN REAL LIFE!!!! The blind firing techniques are a definate perfecting to put into a game. I’m suprised no other game developers have gotten smart and used it. Too damn bad for them. Anyway, the gameplay is solid. Nonstop action. Shooting every which way just to stay alive. This may make you think that the game is unrealistic….yeah, IT’S NOT!!!! Take a couple well placed hits from any enemy and you’re dead, especially the mounted turrets. They created the game in such a realistic way that you MUST use your cover in order to survive. here’s no option. You either use it or you die. Which takes us to the OCS (offensive cover system). This enables u to get against basically any surface and use it as cover. When there, you can lean out and shoot accurately at your attackers OR you can use the newly created feature that works with the OCS: Blind fire. This is when you stick your gun out the side of your cover and fire it without looking. It keeps you from getting hit, but it is also about as accurate as something very inaccurate. But it helps many time throughout the game….MANY TIMES!!!! about 9 guns and 4 types of grenades. This game rocks mt f***ing socks. get it. It’s cheap and well worth the small amount u pay for it.

Circus Maximus

Circus Maximus: Chariot Wars is a brutal mix of racing and combat set during the height of Imperial Rome. The Great Circus provides entertainment to thousands of cheering crowds throughout the Empire. The greatest champions from the furthest reaches of the Empire have gathered to compete in the tournament to determine who is the greatest in the known world, and who will receive recognition from the emperor himself.

As one of the many charioteers in Circus Maximus: Chariot Wars, you will strive to earn glory while racing through settings in the ancient Roman Empire. Compete in the northernmost expansion of the Empire in Britannia, or the cold, harsh lands of Germania, all to reach the ultimate arena, the great Circus Maximus. There is room for only one champion of the circus. Second place is the first loser, and, oftentimes, the first casualty.

Fighting and driving are equally important. Each team has a warrior to protect the driver during the race, and these warriors are proficient in dealing out damage to any who stray too close. Prepare for racing thuggery as you attempt to survive and conquer Circus Maximus: Chariot Wars.

4 Stars Chariot racing goodness
The first time I played this game I was hooked. You really do feel like you are in ancient Rome or Greece or even Egypt as you build your own chariot, choose your driver and fighter and fight for the glory against the computer or your friends. It does get a bit old after a while, but that’s understandable for any racing game. But after a while of not playing it, you get the urge to play it again, making it a good game. The graphics are pretty good, the horses look great, as does the scenery of the game. The voices of the characters always make me laugh, especially hearing the Roman fighter yell “I’ll show you how to drive a chariot!”. This game is fun for everybody, easy to learn and master and seems to never let me down. The music is great too, so great in fact, I wish they’d make a soundtrack to this game.

4 Stars good multiplayer game
I was actually suprised how fun this game is, once you master the controls (I recommend doing the academy/ training classes first before any chariot races). This is definately the game to have when your friends come over, it’ll entertain you for hours. One thing I really like is the replay, so when you crash, you can see it at different view, pretty funny at times. This game is definately worth it.

4 Stars HMMMMMMMMMM!
the graphics are a bit of a letdown and gameplay isnt all that good after u have mastered the game in 5 minutes but for some reason this games is fun. cant explain it. its DEFINITELY not worth $50 tho!

4 Stars Fun but Dumb
The biggest problem with the game is you can only have one campaign saved. Other then that the game is a fun game to rent and battle with your friends.

5 Stars circus maximus
this game is cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

5 Stars DA BOMB RACING GAME
This game is a great game if u wanna chalenging, hard to beat racing game. This game has awesome graphics and its not so easy to beat it took me about 30 MINUTES to beat one of the races. Although, sometimes you may get frustrated when you race, and sometimes you’re in 1st and then someone comes and knocks you out-or spins you out-you end up in 5th.

Good Things-
Awesome Cars (Stock cars in speed and power, Modified cars in speed and power, Pro cars in speed and power, and Unlimitied cars in speed and power)
NOT easy to beat
good graphics
ALOT of races
A GOOD GAME
Good music, and sound
once beaten still really fun to play
really good with multiplayer
free roam is fun

Bad things-
Frustrating at some points
when selecting things have to push the button awfully hard
easy to win once in front of everyone kind of alot

so overall, A PRETTY GOOD GAME RIGHT(…)

4 Stars Fun if you like arcade style racing.
I’m a big fan of arcade style racing, and Test Drive:Off Road took it to the next level. (If you prefer more “realistic” racing where you buy parts & make money see my review on 4×4 Evo2 instead.)

Test Drive delivers the one thing I have wanted from a racing game for years, the ability to choose your own way through a course, AND still win. In ‘98 Microsoft came out with Motocross Madness, where you rode dirtbikes and did tricks for points, but when you were in racing mode, if you left the track, you didn’t stand a chance of winning.

Test Drive is different. There are tracks that you can use, and finish, and win on. But you can choose to go off road and win also. You choose your vehicle based on what you want to do. There are power vehicles and speed vehicles. The speed vehicles do well on the relatively flat dirt tracks that lead to the finish, while the power vehicles that have lower top speeds do better leaving the beaten (longer) path and taking the shortcut over the top of the mountain.

That said, there is still a downside: There are a relatively limited number of races, so if you are like me and tend to finish games quickly then this one won’t take you long. It can also be frustrating, because when you play in the hardest mode, the other vehicles will attempt to bump you and make you spin out. That is really annoying when you managed to stay in first place through an entire race, and then get spun out 10 seconds before you hit the finish line and you end up in 5th place.

4 Stars Great multiplayer fun.
Let’s start out by saying that I never bought this game for a realistic four wheeling adventure. Anyone who wants to claim that any of the 4×4 games out there are realistic has never broken an axle Jeeping down a mountainside. If you want authentic outdoor experiences, leave your living room. However if its a cold and rainy day and you have some friends over tryout the multiplayer “King of the hill” mode. This is the one reason I love this game so much. As for the graphics, well they arent great but getting pumped up by the music and knocking your friends around makes up for it.

Second Sight

Second Sight

Second Sight is an incredible psychological thriller that feel like a movie. Its combination of stealth and shooter action gives players the feel of a blockbuster movie. Players meet John Vattic, a man subjected to traumatic surgery and experimentation. Haunted by flashbacks, his only choice is to escape and figure out what happened to him. As Vattic struggles to piece together the past and present, players will uncover a strange chain of events leading to a fatal conspiracy.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Sweet game
Very good game overall. Is a little hard to get into if you get sidetracked while playing, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time as well as quiet to hear what is going on. The game does move a bit fast, but very good. Definately recomend getting the strategy guide to help or at least an online walkthrough.

5 Stars great game hard i can-t bet it
this game is way to hard but cool play it its cool i think it should be m it has blood.its pretty cool . im 13

4 Stars “Second” to “Ops”
“Second Sight,” developer Free Radical’s third person action-adventure, is at its core a good game hindered by some fundamental design flaws. The makers of “Time Splitters” also, unfortunately, followed the similarly themed (and mostly superior) “Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy” out the gate, so drawing comparisons is essentially unavoidable. Even so, “Second Sight” is entirely worth any gamer’s time and effort.

The storyline follows the recent trend of conspiracies and heroes with amnesia, although it’s fairly interesting overall. John Vattic (aka, the player) awakens from a coma in a strange laboratory with no memory of his past, but the sudden realization that he can move things with his mind. This ability, telekinesis, quickly comes in handy in helping him to escape even as new and more powerful abilities begin to come flooding back to him. But flashbacks to six months prior to these events crop up frequently, taking away Vattic’s superpowers and instead forcing him to rely on his firearms until the plotlines begin to intersect half-way through the game.

The action in “Second Sight” is decent, and there are a fair number of weapons that can be employed in defeating Vattic’s enemies. But, naturally, Vattic’s abilities of telekinesis, astral projection, possession, and all of his other psi-powers are what really make the game interesting. Of course, here is where the first comparison to “Psi-Ops” must occur – the powers are generally similar in theme and not quite as fun to use as in that game, but are quick to elicit glee even so – particularly to those who haven’t played “Psi-Ops.” It’s always fun to lift a black-suited agent from the ground with telekinesis and throw him against the walls until he dies, or to fling him off the roof of a building. Likewise, it’s fun to possess an enemy soldier, wreak havoc, and then commit suicide before resuming control of Vattic.

The greatest single issue inherent in the design of “Second Sight,” however, is the frequency of stealth missions that can prove frustrating and unintentionally comical. Although Vattic certainly has the edge in combat, the game tries to offset this fact by throwing countless respawning guards at you should you happen to trip an alarm or be spotted sneaking around by the opposition. It’s too easy to be seen in the game, and the lack of mid-mission saved games compounds the problem. When caught, fighting is fruitless, so the best course of action is to run, find a conveniently placed closet to hide in, and wait the situation out – usually all to the sound of a whining alarm that makes you want to hit the mute button on your television. Of course even if you killed eighty guards before going into hiding, a few minutes later everything goes back to normal and by the time you step out of said closet you’re starting from scratch. Logic takes a nosedive out the window here, and some of the levels that employ these mechanics (and there are many) can prove frustrating.

The graphics in “Second Sight” have the feel of a cartoon, and are well-animated. Even so, the engine portrays a gritty story despite the Teen raring (I’ve played less violent games rated Mature, point of fact). All in all, the production values are solid, complete with some capable voice actors.

In the end, “Psi-Ops” does virtually everything that “Second Sight” does, albeit slightly better (except for a few notable things like plot and character development and the length of the game itself). That said, if you enjoyed that game or have never played it and are interested in the premise, “Second Sight” is a good fit for you.

4 Stars Good story, but you have to WORK for it.
After playing this game I generally felt that I liked it, mostly because of the story and characters in the game. But the mechanics of the game made it seem more like work than play.

Pros:

- The style of non-photo-realistic graphics rendering is quite nice.

- Outdoor scenes are particularly well done.

- Good story with a twist at the end. Also I liked the character development in this game more than I have with other mindless first-person shooters. I think the game designers really put a lot of effort into creating characters that you are interested in. This is what mainly motivates you to get through the game.

- The in-game access to the computers in the game environment is nicely done. They implement a tiny desktop interface that you can navigate with your virtual mouse cursor. Little bits like this add to the immersion of the game.

- Allies that follow you seem to do a pretty decent job of path finding, and are smart enough to go for the health kit when they find one.

Cons:

- It isn’t always clear if you are going to be in a situation where the enemy will respawn infinitely or whether there are just lots of enemies but a finite number. The only thing you can do is to kill everyone and wait to see if they respawn. This takes you completely out of the immersive experience the game designers try so hard to create.

- Takes way too many retries to get through. In actuality the game is pretty short (about 10 hours) but in reality you get killed and have to restart so many times it really seems to take for ever to get through it.

- Saves are only possible after each very very lengthy level. Although you can restart from a checkpoint, you can’t save at that checkpoint.

- Psychic powers are less fun to wield than in psi-ops. After a while the game felt more like work than play.

- Whereas psi-ops leaned too heavily toward the use of telekinesis, this game leaned too heavily toward stealth whereby the player either becomes invisible or projects their aura to take over other people. These are really not as fun as being able to levitate and throw people around. The telekinesis power in this game is also not as well implemented as in psi-ops. In psi-ops you really get the feeling that you are levitating something and throwing it- like in the movies. In Second Sight it feels like you are controlling the X,Y,Z translation with your joystick like you would with a poorly implemented CAD package.

3 Stars Excellent story with fair gameplay
I review this game with very mixed emotions. It has one of the best story lines I have ever encountered on a console game, however the gameplay (at times) has much to be desired. It is a mix of action and stealth, with guns and psi powers as your weapons.

The action sequences are the most fun to play. Crouch behind cover, lean around corners and take out your enemies one at a time… and of course snipe from a distance. Although the psi-powers are more fun to use, you will find yourself using the conventional weapons more often. Psi-blast takes too much of your psi meter up and telekeninesis takes too long to kill the enemy (while your in full view of the enemy). Projection (lets you posess the enemy) is the most fun, but again your meter will drain too quickly. During the action sequences, you will be using your psi-power HEAL the most, while shooting it out. Although the action sequences are the most fun, I consider this a flaw, because the whole draw of the game is your psi-powers, which you rarely use during the action sequences.

The stealth sequences are the aggrivating part of the game. If you get spotted by an agent, the alarm will blare and a room of 4 agents somehow turns into a room with 15 agents. Even if you kill them all, 15 more magically spawn into the area. The game gives you no option to simply try to blast through the remaining agents. As you try to find a safe place to hide, you get blasted by agents from all directions. Once the alarm sounds, its virtually impossible to hide somewhere, because they are always on your tail and if you kill them, others re-appear close by. Some levels are more forgiving than others… but for the most part, if you get spotted, your destined to start from your last checkpoint. During the stealth missions, you will be using your CHARM (makes you unseen when in plain view) power, but again… you are very limited on the time you have to remain unseen… your psi-meter drains rather quickly.

The story line of the game is what will impress the most. The whole time you are playing, you will always be wondering what exactly is going on and where you fit in to the scheme of things. Things really dont start to come together until the last 2 missions of the game… and the twist is ingenious. Think of M. Night Shyamalan movies… this is how the story plays out.

The action sequences and the story line are what made me keep playing the game. I would struggle through the stealth sequences (walkthru in hand) because I knew my effort would pay off with an action level and a new twist in the story line.

If your list of games to purchase is running low, I would recommend giving this game a chance, however if you already have a rather long list of games you want to buy, I wouldnt recommend adding this game to it.
